Grizzlies’ Desmond Bane Out 2-3 Weeks With Sprained Toe
Daniel Dunn-USA TODAY Sports

Grizzlies shooting guard Desmond Bane will miss 2-3 weeks with a sprained right big toe, the team announced.

Bane, 24, is 6-foot-5 and off to a fantastic start, averaging career-highs of 24.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 45 percent shooting on 3-pointers in 12 games. He is also hitting an icy 91.2 percent of his free throws, shooting nearly five a game.

News of Bane’s injury comes on the same day in which starting power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. is set to make his season debut. Jackson has missed the first 14 games after undergoing a procedure on his right foot during the offseason.

Bane recently told Tania Ganguli of the New York Times that the Grizzlies are aiming to take the next step after losing to the Warriors in the second round of the playoffs last season.

“It’s that feeling that I won’t forget,” Bane said. “Just empty. I want more. I think we all want more.”
