Esteban Ocon Breaks silence on rumoured Mercedes move as Lewis Hamilton’s replacement in 2025
Abaca Press

Sir. Lewis Hamilton shocked the whole NASCAR community after it was announced that he would leave the Mercedes F1 team at the end of the 2024 season to join Ferrari. While it left fans with a lot of questions, the most important of them was who will drive for Mercedes in 2025. While there are a lot of rumors of who that driver might beOne of the names that popped up was Esteban Ocon

The French driver is one of those with no contract for the next year at the moment. Finding the best replacement for the seven-time world champion will not be an easy job for the team principal, Toto Wolff. Occon, who is still managed by the Silver Arrows, pointed out that he isn’t focused on the rumors over a Mercedes move, but acknowledged that he is keeping tabs on what is happening in driver’s market.

It is clear that I've got good links with Mercedes and I'm still managed by them in a way similar to a junior even if I'm not a junior anymore. My focus goes into the racing and into the plan that we have with Alpine. I need to focus on what's on track, which is the most important and if that goes well, then we always talk through things. That's what happens when you do a good job.  Esteban Ocon said, as reported by RacingNews365

While most of us were taken aback by Hamiltons’ move to Ferrari, Ocon was not shocked at all. Just a bit surprised at how early the announcement was made. According to him, he knew it was going to be crazy, just not at the beginning of February.

Esteban Ocon expects a progressing season in 2024

Alpines recently had their 2024 car launch. With a completely revised car, this year the team is expecting a better result. Last year the team dropped down from 4th to 6th position in the constructors championship in the second half of the season even with Ocon and Gasly’s scoring podium finishes. Occon expects this result to be better in 2024.

With the new car, we will see where we are exactly at the start, be we want to be progressing, and hopefully improve our performance compared to last year. Esteban Ocon told to SkySports

This will be the fifth year of the French driver with the team this season. He hopes that their long relationship will help them in this upcoming season to overcome any obstacles make progress and give a better fight for points. With teams’ collective efforts, they look forward to having a great season ahead.

Of course, [a] moment like our podium in Monaco last season is a great reward for everyone in the team and having more performances like that is a natural objective.
